Longenesis and Gedeon Richter launch a personalized digital menopause guide with plans to scale across the Baltics and Eastern Europe

Digital health start-up Longenesis, in partnership with Gedeon Richter and the Latvian digital health platform Skrinings.lv/en, has launched an online menopause guide to support women experiencing menopausal symptoms and to generate new evidence on menopause and quality of life. The tool “Your Menopause Guide” is being piloted in Latvia with plans to expand across the Baltic states and Eastern Europe from 2026.

The initiative aims to address a major but often overlooked women’s health issue. International research shows that up to 90% of women experience at least one menopausal symptom, and around one in four live with severe symptoms that can significantly affect wellbeing, sleep, and work ability [1]. For some women, these symptoms can persist for more than seven years, with the most frequently reported including hot flushes, sleep disturbances, mood swings, difficulties concentrating, and joint or muscle discomfort [2]. Despite this, menopause remains under-discussed, and many women lack access to clear, personalised guidance.

Developed on the Skrinings.lv/en platform by Longenesis and Gedeon Richter together with clinical experts, “Your Menopause Guide” uses evidence-based questionnaires and clinical guidelines to provide personalised, easy-to-understand feedback within minutes. Based on a woman’s responses, the guide:

  • identifies which stage she is likely in – perimenopause, menopause, or postmenopause – and explains how this can impact her body;
  • maps symptoms by severity and offers practical, evidence-based advice on how to manage them;
  • suggests a tailored lifestyle plan, including nutrition, physical activity, and recommended preventive checks;
  • helps to prepare for a medical appointment by structuring key concerns and questions.

The recommendations are based on international clinical guidelines and a systematic review of more than 100 scientific publications. The tool is free of charge and accessible on any device. All data are collected and analysed in an anonymised way.

“Menopause is not a taboo, and it is not a diagnosis – it is a natural new chapter in life that will come to all of us,” said Dr Dace Matule, Head of the Women’s Consultation Department at Medical Centre ARS and one of the project experts. “The new guide explains these changes in clear language, reduces anxiety, and offers a concrete action plan. The goal is clarity and real support, so that women do not simply accept their symptoms but maintain their quality of life and feel better every day.”

Alongside individual support, “Your Menopause Guide” will underpin the first nationwide study in Latvia on menopausal symptoms and their impact on daily life. Using anonymised data, researchers will assess the prevalence and severity of symptoms, women’s knowledge about menopause, and typical help-seeking behaviour. These insights will guide more targeted awareness campaigns and service improvements for women of menopausal age. The evidence and methodology developed in Latvia will be used to inform the planned roll-out in Estonia, Lithuania, and other CEE countries, with local adaptation to language and clinical context.

“With this guide, we wanted to turn complex scientific literature into clear, personal language and empower each participant through data,” said Emil Syundyukov, Longenesis CEO. “The guide answers three key questions: Where am I? What does it mean? What can I do today? Each woman receives a practical action plan for herself – and at the same time, anonymised data will help us improve women’s healthcare at national and, in the future, regional level.”
